Welcome to the information page for the North American FIDE Invitational norm tournaments.
These events are organized for the specific purpose of giving chess players residing in North America the opportunity to earn the required norms for international chess titles bestowed by the World Chess Federation, FIDE.
Who's gained norms at this tournament series? Well the list is long and filled with players well known:
All events are 9R-RR events (all play all) beginning on a Saturday early afternoon and ending on a Friday night, with a time control of G/90 + 30/sec increments.
Players are required to use the provided MonRoi Personal Chess Managers. All FIDE rules are enforced including forfeit of game via ANY noise emanating from your mobile phone.
The 2009 schedule of events includes 10 IM norm tournaments and 1 GM norm event. The schedule for 2009 can be seen in the table below.
If you are interested in participating in these events to play or gain your arbiter norms, please email us at info@nachess.org and your name will be placed on our Interested Participants list. No one is guaranteed participation and there are entry fees to the events.
